Keith Crass calls for Candidate Forums

July 28, 2010

Crass Gears up for fall campaign focused on creating jobs for Garland County calling on Williams to agree to forums.

“Larry Williams has had almost 16 years as County Judge to create jobs and solve problems.  He has become part of the problem rather than part of the solution….”

Hot Springs – July 28, 2010 – Keith Crass has kicked off his campaign in earnest as he prepares for a hard fought fall campaign.

“This is the most pivotal election cycle in my life,“ Crass stated.  “Unemployment is at a 30 year high, small business owners are preparing for a costly federal health insurance program, and individual taxpayers are faced with the prospects of additional taxes.  Enough is enough.  It is time to put some common sense back into our government at all levels.”

Crass is the managing partner of Crass and Smith, P.A. in Hot Springs.  A graduate of Arkansas State University (ASU), he has served as an adjunct faculty member for the Garland County Community College and the University of the Ozarks.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the ASU Alumni Association, and has served on various boards in Hot Springs.

“As the State Representative for Hot Springs, I will give my undivided attention to creating new jobs by lowering our state’s tax burden, removing burdensome regulations, and incentivizing small business owners,” Crass continued.

“It is important that Hot Springs and Garland County residents know where their future officials stand on the issues, so I’m calling on Larry Williams to agree to a series of forums so we can debate these important issues.

“Larry Williams has had almost 16 years as County Judge to create jobs and solve problems.  He has become part of the problem rather than part of the solution.  Taxpayers are tired of government ineffectiveness and waste – there is no better example than Larry Williams turning a blind eye to county officials double-dipping into multiple retirement accounts.  I hope Larry Williams will agree to discuss these issues for the voters of Garland County,“ Crass concluded.

Crass is a member of the AICPA Ambassadors program and was previously the National Key Person Coordinator for Arkansas, which involved oversight of legislative contacts and activities.  He recently received the ASCPA 2009 Outstanding Legislative Service Award for his work with the Arkansas Legislature.

Crass was the 2007-2008 President of the Arkansas Society of CPAs, representing over 2800 certified public accountants.  Prior to that, he served eleven (11) terms as Chairman of the Professional Ethics Committee, and was Co-Chairman of the Legislative Committee.

State Representative Keith Crass

April 23, 2010

I’m running because I care. It’s always been in my heart and soul to someday be a state representative, and that someday is here.

My interest in the Arkansas Legislature dates as far back as 1963, when I was just four years old. My grandmother worked in the House of Representatives, and she took my twin brother and me down on the House floor during the session. I vividly remember watching the speeches and even then, I knew this was something great.
